PIMUN-ICC 2017

PIMUN; ICC was held at 9th – 10th March at GMIC, Kabul, Afghanistan. Where all female secretariat team hosted plus 220 participants including delegates, executive board, team members and volunteers. During this event we celebrated women’s day and collaborated in localization of SDGs, since the agendas were in correlation with Sustainable Development Goals.
Objectives
During this conference we pledge to achieve following targets;
  • Boost culture of equality and improve women contribution in society.
  • Celebrate women’s day and consider gender understanding between youths.
  • Deliberate about global issues and crisis based on national mood.
  • Learn to lead and act as representative of a nation.
  • Discus about Global goals and boost localization of SDGs.
  • Markup the role of women contribution and their effort in youth empowerment.
  • Bring the global and local crisis in floor to be discussed and lobby for implementable resolutions.

Hamid Karzai, Ms. Farkhunda Zahra Naderi, Mr. Anders Sjöberg – Ambassador of Sweden in Afghanistan, Ms. Naheed Fared – MP, Mrs. Habiba Sarabi – Former governor & recipient of N-Peace Awards, Mr. Goerge Cunningham – Deputy Head of EU in Afghanistan, Mrs. Orzala Nemat – Director of AREU, Mr. Kwaak YoungHoon – President at World Citizens Organization, Mr. Sajed Taqwa – Project Manager at UNDP, Phd Sadiq Syed – Program Management Advisor at UN WOMEN, and Prof. Rafis Abazov – Representative of Al-Farabi University.

Committees
During the conference as mentioned we hosted plus 160 delegates divided within three committees, discussing about global goals and process for localization of 17 sustainable goals. As we had three committees discussing following agendas each committee; UNDP was one of largest committee including 60 delegates moderated by Moneer Koshani as Chair, Sajed Taqwa - Project Manager of UNDP as co-chair, Hadia Essazada as Rapporteur. The specific agenda was about Youth Leadership and Education for Sustainable Development, with the intention of allowing delegates to dive into the challenges that the rest of youths are being faced in the way of education and leadership. The sessions started with GSL in first day and ended with un moderated caucus in the second day. UNWOMEN was the second simulated committee from United Nations with 42 delegates hosted by Ali Rahmani as Chair, Qudsia Popalzai as Cho-chair and Torre Khan Zhumagul as Rapporteur from Silkway MUN – Kazakhstan organizing team and student of Kazak National University. The committee of UN Women started with introducing rules of procedure to the delegates and followed by GSL and formal debates on SDG 5 “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”. The committee sessions continued productively and several delegates stated the problems that women are being faced in Afghanistan and around the whole world. They debated on how we can put an end to all gender inequalities across the world, decrease gender gap and how to promote gender understanding. During the first day committee broke into working groups for writing draft resolution and at the end of the 2nd day two draft resolutions were submitted to the dais.

شورای وزیران میزبان بیشتر از 52 اشتراک کننده بود که به دو بخش تقسیم گردیدند. در آغاز بحث کمیته ها اشتراک کننده های هر دو شورای وزیران و کابینه در روز اول شاهد حضور خانم حبیبه سرابی والی پیشین بامیان بودند. خانم سرابی در ارتباط به کارکرد شورای وزیران و روند کاری هر دو کمیته و موضوعات اساسی مورد بحث را برای اشتراک کننده ها معرفی نمودند. سپس جلسه کابینه تحت رهبری محترم بسم الله تابان با همکاری خانم صدف تایب و جلسه شورای وزیران تحت رهبری محترم خوشحال آصفی با همراهی محترم شبیر حسین ایمان پیشبرده شد. در این جلسه بحث روی اهداف توسعهء پایدار سازمان ملل متحد صورت گرفته که در روز اول همه وزیران موقعیت وزارت منتخب خویش را با در نظر داشت اهداف 17 گانه بیان نمودند. در ارتباط با موضوعات مهم در افغانستان و اولویت بندی اهداف توسعه پایدار به اساس ضروریات کشور و منطقه بحث و گفتگو در کمیته ها صورت گرفت.

در پایان بحث ها در روز دوم برای رسیدن به اهداف 17 گانه توسعه پایدار در افغانستان با در نظر داشت محیط داخلی کشور چند نکته مهم فیصله گردید و خواهان عملی نمودن نکات متذکره از دولت جمهوری اسلامی افغانستان گردیدند.

Delegates
In PIMUN; ICC we affirmed participation of plus 160 delegates and concluding the organizing committee, executive board and volunteers more than 200 people contributed. We hosted male and female delegates both 83 and 70 accordingly. The delegates were both from school and university student. In the end of 2 day conference, Youth Thinkers’ Society awarded 4 best delegates, one from each committee, and 3 members of organizing committee as a result of their hard work. Among them awarded ones 5 were assigned to participate in Silkway MUN – Kazakhstan, which will be held at Almaty, Kazakhstan from 28th -30th April. From the rest one delegate was designated to participate in Everest International MUN at Nepal from 10th 14th July, likely the other was awarded to participate in an international MUN in India.
Outcome
Participants of the conference adopted various routine valued skills for their self-improvements and better future acts. They learned peaceful negotiations upon different topics and concluding to final resolution. Where they state all the national and international issues and global crisis, additionally the authors and signatories mention their country’s stance upon the agenda mentioned. Overall the conference come up with implementable ideas in ground level for all. As the nations will act and follow those goals and sub-topics mentioned in operative section in resolution. The resolutions are written and voted by delegates in their committees and passed by chair reviewed by Secretary General for final implementations. And in conclusion all the attendees of the conference learned new skills of interaction and about united nations, their procedure of work, ways of lobbying to interest of their country and raising motions for solving problems and writing resolutions.
