Youth Thinkers’ Society - Organization, will be organizing the first ever National Youth Symposium on SDGs in Afghanistan where students and youth between the age of 16 – 29 will come together from all the provinces of Afghanistan to discuss and come up with solutions/recommendations to the Afghan government and NGOs on how to reach five goals of SDGs.
The symposium will host 200+ aspiring youth from all across the country who will take part in paper presentations, panel discussions and other fun activities. The symposium is divided into two major components: Social Forum and Political Forum. In the social forum, there will be five paper presentations on six SDGs; wherein, a prominent expert in relevant field shall present a paper on one of the SDGs. Two commentators in the field will critically comment upon the paper and the participants would also engage during the open floor session by questioning and/or giving feedback to the presenter. In the political forum, the recommendations made by the paper presenter combined with that of commentators and participants shall be presented to the key political and social leaders. The symposium will also be fun-filled with number of fun activities to make it more youth-friendly.

What is Sustainable Development GoalsThe Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), officially known as transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a set of seventeen aspirational "Global Goals" with 169 targets between them. Spearheaded by the United Nations, through a deliberative process involving its 193 Member States, as well as global civil society, the goals are contained in paragraph 54 United Nations Resolution A/RES/70/1 of 25 September 2015.
What is the Event
This two-day Symposium will bring together young leaders from all over the country to devise solutions for the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Afghanistan. These young leaders will be selected from a variety of disciplines including economy, tech, advocacy, research and policy, government, education, and many more.The Symposium will have a special focus on solutions to achieve SDG 3, SDG 4, SDG 5, SDG 8, SDG 16, and, SDG 17. This event will celebrate the interdisciplinary and interconnected themes of the SDGs by examining all goals and the relevance they have to young people in Afghanistan. Through a series of interactive workshops where all participants can trade knowledge and co-generate ideas, we can begin planning and operationalizing these solutions.
