Consultation Meeting

Consultation Meeting on SDGs for National Youth Symposium This meeting was organized at Qasre Marmarin on January 12, 2017 in presence of government officials, academia, educators, experts, local and international NGOs, networks and activists in order to create a platform and suitable framework for holding the National Youth Symposium, which will be on 19, 20 and 21 April, 2017. This consultation meeting was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, United Nations Development Program, and Institute of Business Studies. H.E. Ms. Rula (Bibi Gul) Ghani, The First Lady of IRoA, expressed her thoughts on SDG 5 - Gender Equality. She referred to the value, respect, rights and privileges that Afghan women possess in Afghan culture and history. H.E. Mr. Abdul Sattar Murad, Minister of Economy, discussed government’s strategic plans to localize SDGs in Afghanistan. Dr. Sima Samar, chairwoman of AIHRC, analyzed SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-Being. In continuation, Mr. Jean Charles, Ambassador of Denmark, delivered his speech on SDG 4 - Quality Education. He emphasized on the role of youth in realization and implementation of SDGs in Afghanistan. Mr. Douglas Keh, Country Director of UNDP in Afghanistan, had a brief talk on SDGs in general and mentioned its importance and relevance to Afghanistan. Ms. Farkhunda Zahra Naderi, senior adviser to the President of IRoA, presented her views on SDG 17 - Partnership for the Goals and proposed ways for better understanding and implementation of SDGs in Afghanistan. Finally, Mr. George Cunningham, Minister & Deputy Head of European Union, emphasized on peacebuilding in Afghanistan and elaborated on SDG 16. Finally,
